A powerlifter pulling a heavy deadlift at a competition

Texas A&M University

Powerlifting Club

Heavy iron.
Loud hands.
Aggie pride.

The Texas A&M University Powerlifting Club has trained Aggies, met weekly, and squared off in collegiate competition since 1974. Three lifts, one school, zero shortcuts.

01Team ethos

A barbell club built to compete

01

Compete for the school

The club exists for one thing: intercollegiate competition wearing Aggie maroon. Club records count when the weight goes up at a sanctioned meet, not in a basement log.

02

Train with intent

Squat, bench, deadlift. A program built for the platform, not the mirror. You train to make a total heavy enough to matter on a results sheet.

03

Show up for each other

The loudest corner of campus belongs to the lifters on the platform. You call people's lifts, you load their bars, and you stand behind them from last warm-up to the flight.

04

Carry the history

This club has trained Aggies since 1974. Every session is one more rep on a bar that predates most of the people holding it. Earn the right to call it yours.

02College Nationals legacy

The road runs to Nationals

1974Founded.
Still lifting.

This club competes for Texas A&M in intercollegiate powerlifting - the sanctioned, three-lift sport - at meets that scale up to the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals. The official TAMU sports calendar lists the 2026 Collegiate Nationals for April 9-12, 2026, in Kenner, Louisiana.

After this season's run, the club's Instagram reported the Aggies left New Orleans with three national champions and eight All-Americans. Recap attributed to @aggiepowerlifting.

Competition is the point of this club. Nationals is the stage every training week is pointed at, and where Aggie totals get written into the record.

03Training culture

How we train

Weekly sessions on campus

The club meets weekly on campus and runs on dues. No remote-only crew here - you earn the community by standing on the platform with it.

Programmed for the platform

Sessions build the squat, bench, and deadlift toward sanctioned totals. Intensity is high, form is watched, and nobody skips the boring work.

Chalk, calls, and teammates

Heavy lifts get spotted, cued, hollered at, and totaled. The room is loud on purpose, and the loudest people stand behind their teammates.

Meet-ready

When the calendar points at a sanctioned meet, the club helps lifters get on the platform with a plan: attempts, pacing, and a flight to belong to.
